This past weekend when it got really cold (like in the 15’s-20’s) my oldest went outside to skate across the street for a while. We live right by a park and there are a few soccer fields out there. When it snows, then rains, then freezes it sometimes makes a sort of “pond” that the neighborhood kids can skate on. Noah takes the shovel over there and scrapes the snow off and the ice is always flat in large areas. I happened to look out and see him and a neighbor skating through the woods between the trees—an odd sight to see in general! I went out there with my camera and proceeded to take a million pictures. I have never seen anything like it! Ice all between the trees smooth enough to skate on….it was literally the neatest things I’ve seen since living up in Buffalo—we definitely don’t see anything like this in the South!
